I watched teevee last night…

June 23, 2008

…and I saw Deep Water, the amazing and heartbreaking story of Donald Crowhurst.  Sort of like Grizzly Man but with the bears replaced by the tag-team of the ocean and the protagonist’s own brain.  Here’s NPR on the topic.

I also watched Scoop.  You can skip it unless you’re like me and you need to see everything Woody Allen does at least once.

  1. Composer Steven Mackey’s one singer opera “Ravenshead” is a pretty great telling of the Crowhurst story, based on a book whose name I forget. It was written for the Paul Dresher Ensemble and Rinde Eckert. It’s about 90 minutes. Good stuff.
