  1. Dude, I think that’s euyripterid! They aren’t supposed to be alive anymore. They died out in the late cambrian era. They’re prehistoric!
If there any more large ones(the largest one in the fossil record was 8 ft. long!) it ould be dangerous.
They were lethal and dangerous predators and could easily kill a grown man.

  2. Dude,

you’re a loser, eurypterids only came into exsistance in the Silurian and Devonian periods. duhhh

  3. I believe you mean the Precambrian Era, which included the Silurian Period, when the eurypterid fossils appear.

    • Um….eurypterids were from the Silurian period from the PALEOZOIC ERA….

  4. Guys, get a room. Eurypterids. Geologic time scale.

  5. First of all, that doesn’t look exactly like a eurypterid, secondly, they have been extinct for half of a billion years, thirdly, that is the incorrect size to truly be an eurypterid. Duh you moron.

  6. The Silurian period was part of the Paleozoic Era, and the Phanerozoic Eon…the Precambrian ended approximately one hundred million years before these guys even showed up…and went extinct about two hundred million years later between the Permian and Triassic periods.

This resembles a Eurypterid, and the sizes can vary. It’s easy to see how it might be confused for one, if it weren’t. Most were even under eight inches, but could grow up to eight feet in length…(as the first comment states) It’s highly unlikely that this is actually one, more likely that it’s a fake or something very similar in appearance. But, you never know.

(I think that is all relatively correct)

  7. Hmm, that does look a little like a eurypterid! All I know is that they were alive in the Ordovician, and in the Devonian too, but seriously, who cares? I want to hang that on my wall! It’s cool and supremely scary!

  8. you losers would know what happened

  9. Morons. That is a fake euryterid. Only marine creatures that lived were fishes, turtles, and etc. That is only a toy. Besides , if it was real he wouldn’t be holding it.

  10. FOR STARTERS:NAME CALLING IS A SAD WAY TO REREPLY TO SOMEONE ELSE’S VIEW.NO MATTER IF THEY ARE EDUCATED IN “SEA SCORPIONS” OR NOT.WE ALL KNOW THEY ALL LIVED AND DIED LONG BEFORE THE DINO’S.AS FOR THE CREATURES THEMSELVES,THERE WHERE MANY DIFFERANT TYPES.I MYSELF HAVE THREE OR FOUR VARIETYS,FROM 4″LONG TO 24″LONG.SOME HAVE BALD HEADS WITH NO “FEELERS” WITH EYES,SOME HAVE NO EYES AND”FEELERS” BODYWIDTH OR MORE! BUT ALL TAILS FROM THIS TIME PERIOD HAVE THE TRUE SCORPION “STINGER”.TWO FOOTER WITH A 4″ LONG STINGER IS QUITE A SIGHT!ALL FROM TEN YEARS OF FOSSIL COLLECTING FROM THE SAME STONE QUARRY DATED AT 425-450 MILLION YEARS OLD.SO, TO SPLIT A LAYER OF STONE AND FIND ONE IS AMAZING!!BUT THE MODEL PROP IN THIS PICTURE IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE AND REAL LOOKING.

  11. I agree with little miss biology. If it was real, he would be a dead man. and dead men tell no tales.

  12. It’s a Megalograptus ohioensis from the Ordovician Period (which is NOT precambrian i might add, but a period in the Paleozoic era), and yes it’s a eurypterid, and no it’s not a crustacean. This is a scale model. It is actually that size.

  13. I must say…….. photoshop much?
