Natasia “Tata,” pka Lentil, Amelia, etc, 1989-2007April 15, 2007
Natasia, who in her salad days had scratched, bitten, or at least hissed at many of you, was put to sleep yesterday Saturday, April 14. Details and cat links below fold. She’d been intermittently blind for a couple of weeks. On Friday she began walking in circles and trying to force herself into tiny apertures, and in the afternoon she had a couple of violent seizures. On saturday morning she had arranged herself in an unnatural position with her head pointing straight up, kneeding the air. She was breathing shallowly and laboriously but evenly and at a natural pace, and she was apparently oblivious to all of her senses. Here are some cat links in her honor. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
The name was a failed attempt to name her after Nastassja Kinski after I saw Cat People on television when she was a kitten (Kinski was credited as “Nastassia,” so I only missed 2 esses and couldn’t have known about the jay). It was her fourth or fifth name, I gave it to her when I pointed out to my housemate who brought her home and abandoned her in the hall that she had become my cat.
